Ojibway Parkway Wildlife Crossing Class Environmental Assessment
The City of Windsor has initiated a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) study for a Wildlife Crossing at Ojibway Parkway south of Broadway Boulevard. The purpose of this study is to identify opportunities to provide safe passage for area wildlife and species at risk and create landscape connectivity in the Ojibway Prairie Complex. The Class Environmental Assessment process requires that various reasonable solutions shall be identified and evaluated to identify a preferred solution. For this study, an evaluation of alternative solutions was conducted, which identified a Preferred Solution being a Wildlife Overpass (North Option).
Draft Environmental Study Report
Council Endorsement of the Draft Environmental Study Report
The Class EA Study Team has developed a draft environmental study report for this project, which documents the planning, consultation, decision making process and details on the preferred design for this project. The draft environmental study report and the preferred design were endorsed by the City of Windsor’s Council on December 20, 2021. The City of Windsor Staff Report (S 160/2021), along with the preferred design, is available in the Council Meeting Agenda package (48 MB). When minutes of the council meeting are available, those will be uploaded on the page.
The Study Team will work to finalize the environmental study report considering comments from the government review agencies. Once finalized, the report will be shared for a minimum of 30-day public review period. A notice of study completion will be issued at that time to inform interested parties about when and where to access the environmental study report.
