Utility Charges and Allowances

The rent-geared-to-income rent calculation makes provisions for accommodations that include or exclude utilities.
If the accommodation rent does not include these utilities or appliances, an allowance is provided.
If the accommodation rent does include utilities, a charge is added to the rent.
These allowances and/or charges are based on a utility scale prescribed by the Housing Services Act, 2011, Ontario Regulation 316/19 (O. Reg. 316/19), tables 4 through 8 inclusive, and may be subject to change periodically.
