Howard Park

Both Union Gas and the City of Windsor own a portion of Howard Avenue Park. In 1986, representatives of Union Gas met with Department of Parks and Recreation officials in an effort to establish a mutually acceptable parkland development plan for the site. Ultimately, the gas company financed the development of both properties and suggested paying the City a yearly fee to cover maintenance costs in exchange for easement rights. The City was agreeable to this proposal, and the new Howard Avenue Park was quickly developed. Trees and shrubs were planted; a fence was erected; and an asphalt parkway running through the park was installed. Completed in 1988, the park offers a quiet peaceful setting for the enjoyment of area residents.
