Waste and Recycling Stations
Help Keep Parks Clean
The City of Windsor is committed to keeping parks clean, attractive, and welcoming. As part of this effort, the Parks Division has installed more than 750 garbage and recycling silos citywide, with ongoing investment and support from Council.
These in-ground systems are designed to:
- Serve both garbage and recycling needs in busy park spaces
- Hold more waste than standard above-ground metal cans with fewer overflows
- Reduce odours, wildlife interference, and windblown litter
- Optimize collection efficiency
With support from the Mayor’s Office, additional silos will be installed in 2026 based on public input. Your feedback will help guide where new silos are installed so that parks stay clean, accessible, and enjoyable for everyone.
Survey Period: January 15, 2026, to February 28, 2026

- Click to take the online survey and have your say.
The following criteria will be considered when planning silo installation locations:
- Installation in grass or soil (not on concrete or asphalt)
- Proximity to accessible pathways
- Adequate truck access for emptying and servicing
- Placement in high-use areas (picnic sites, playgrounds, splash pads, sports courts, trails, sports fields, riverfront areas)
- Encouraging waste sorting and recycling behaviour while keeping parks welcoming
Together, we’re investing in parks that serve Windsor, now and into the future.
Park-related litter or waste collection concerns can be reported through 311 for follow-up by City staff.
