Legacy Park

Legacy Park playground on the riverfront with Detroit skyline in background620 Riverside Drive West

This property was acquired for the construction of the Caron Avenue Pumping Station. It has been accessible to the public for many years and is a favourite fishing spot. In 1999, the grounds were refurbished around the pumping station and the pathways connected to parks on the east and west. In 2001, a major addition was made to the pumping station, including the construction of a public washroom, and in 2006, the National Football League (NFL) themed playground was constructed to coincide with Super Bowl XL (40) at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan. The playground was renewed in 2023, keeping the NFL theme. Current park improvements include the Legacy Beacon/Streetcar Project.
