Street Naming and Municipal Addressing

The City of Windsor is responsible for the naming and re-naming of streets within the city, as well as municipal address numbering and re-numbering of properties and buildings.

The Development Section of the Planning Department is responsible for the assignment/change of addresses to existing property records.

Commemorative Poppy

In 2005, poppy symbols were added to street signs for a number of streets that were named after battles Canadians fought during the war.  Streets marked with the poppy include:

  • Ypres, Vimy, Lens, Dieppe, Alsace, Lorraine, Arras, Amiens, St. Julien, Somme and Verdun
