City Encourages Residents to Help Keep Windsor Clean Through Adopt-A-Street and Spring Clean Sweep Programs
The City of Windsor is encouraging residents, community groups, schools, and local organizations to take part in two long‑standing community cleanup initiatives designed to reduce litter and beautify neighbourhoods across the city. The Spring Rose City Clean Sweep Program and the Adopt‑A‑Street Program offer residents meaningful opportunities to get involved, show community pride, and help keep Windsor clean and welcoming.
Spring Rose City Clean Sweep
The Spring Rose City Clean Sweep Program is an annual cleanup initiative that encourages residents to tidy their yards, streets, neighbourhoods, and local parks as part of Windsor’s city‑wide spring-cleaning effort.
Each spring since 1989, Windsor volunteers — including students and community groups — have helped remove litter and educate the public on the environmental impacts of waste.
You can register your participation in the Clean Sweep by visiting www.CityW.ca/CleanSweep or contacting 311.
Adopt-A-Street
The Adopt‑A‑Street Program invites environmentally conscious individuals and groups to take an active role in maintaining cleaner, litter‑free streets throughout Windsor. Participants commit to adopting a section of City roadway and performing litter cleanups over the course of a one‑year term, with the option to renew annually.
To recognize volunteer contributions, the City will install signage in each adopted area acknowledging the participating group or individual.
Participants are encouraged to complete at least two cleanups per year, helping reduce litter before it spreads and ensuring neighbourhoods remain pleasant for all to enjoy.
Residents or organizations interested in adopting a street can call (519) 974‑2277 ext. 3121 for more information or to register.
Whether adopting a street, organizing a neighbourhood cleanup, or participating in a city‑wide effort, every action helps reduce litter, supports environmental stewardship, and helps us build a cleaner, greener Windsor.
Even if you can’t be part of an organized cleanup program, with more than 800 litter receptacles placed throughout Windsor’s commercial areas, residents are always encouraged to dispose of their waste properly and help keep public spaces clean. Thank you!
