Spay/Neuter Voucher Program for Cats
2020 Voucher Program
In light of the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic and the rate at which the situation is changing, please be advised that the expiry date of the spay/neuter vouchers has been extended until July 31, 2020.
Spaying and neutering pets to prevent unwanted pregnancies is the very foundation of effective animal control, and The City of Windsor is pleased to once again offer its Spay/Neuter Voucher Program for cats. The program returned in 2020, and at this time, all vouchers are assigned.
Vouchers for owned cats are reserved for low-income families. A declaration of income is required. A maximum of 2 vouchers per household will be issued where the cats are owned. For feral cat caregivers, a maximum of 2 vouchers per household will be issued with no income restrictions. In both cases, the applicant must be over the age of 18.
Vouchers are non-transferrable and will expire 90 days after issue. They may be redeemed at any participating veterinary clinic (list to be provided upon successful application). Recipients must call and book appointments for spay/neuter services in advance.
In an effort to reduce the number of homeless cats and number of cats euthanized in the city, 260 vouchers were issued to sterilize cats in 2019.
