On Monday, October 22, 2018, voters in the City of Windsor will elect a Mayor, Ward Councillors and School Board Trustees to represent them for the term of office beginning December 1, 2018 and ending November 14, 2022. Under the Municipal Elections Act, the term of office is 4 years for all offices. You must be an eligible elector in order to vote in the municipality on Voting Day.
Nomination Period For Candidates
Please note that the nomination period for the 2018 municipal election will begin Tuesday, May 1, 2018 and will end at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2018 (Nomination Day). This is the period of time when the Office of the City Clerk will accept nomination papers of those individuals wishing to run for the offices of Mayor, Ward Councillor and School Board Trustee. Candidates should review the link "Candidate Info" for further information on how to run for local office.
Changes to the Municipal Elections Act
Bill 181, The Municipal Elections Modernization Act, 2016, came into effect June 9, 2016 and makes changes to the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 for the 2018 municipal election.
