Climate Change Mitigation
Climate change mitigation helps to reduce the severity and progression of climate change by addressing the root causes of climate change, often done by reducing greenhouse gas emissions from entering the atmosphere. These actions are proactive and can be done at varying levels (individual, local, provincial, etc.). This includes actions such as improving energy efficiency, building green, promoting sustainable transportation and planting more trees.
As a measure to mitigate climate change impacts, the Environmental Sustainability and Climate Change Department at the City of Windsor has created two plans: the Community Energy Plan (2017) and the Corporate Climate Action Plan (2017).
