When purchasing new appliances or fixtures, consider ones that will save water and energy.
Wash only full loads in the dishwasher or clothes washer instead of several small loads.
Soak pots and pans before washing. When washing dishes by hand, fill one sink or basin with soapy water.
Check regularly for any leaks and fix them. Most common bathroom leaks are found in faucets and in toilets.
Turn the tap water off while brushing your teeth, shaving or washing your face.
Cut down on your shower time and/or only fill the bathtub one-third full when bathing.
Insulate your water pipes. You will get hot water faster plus avoid wasting water while it heats up.
Collect rainwater in an old barrel or other large container that is outfitted with a spigot and a suitable cover, and use the water on your garden.
Do not over water your grass or landscaping.
