Traffic Monitoring Cameras
The City of Windsor utilizes traffic monitoring cameras to monitor traffic and roadways in order to better respond to incidents. Cameras are monitored from the Traffic Operations Centre, which allows the Traffic Operations team to quickly respond to incidents that affect traffic patterns. The cameras allow the team to review an incident and assess how to improve traffic flow and signal timing response for future incidents.
Windsor Police Service and Windsor Fire and Rescue Services have live video access to the traffic monitoring cameras to assist them in incident response and can pan, tilt and zoom in live view only; they do not have access to recorded video feeds.
Currently, there are 163 traffic monitoring cameras located at intersections throughout the city.
The City of Windsor does not own any of the cameras on Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) roadways within the city limits: Highway 3, Highway 401, sections of Ojibway Parkway designated as Highway 7902, and a section of E.C. Row Expressway designated as Highway 7087.
