Windsor Demographics

Data from Canada’s 2016 Census, which took place on May 10, 2016, suggests that the City of Windsor’s population grew by 3.0 percent between 2011 and 2016, from 210,891 to 217,188. The population of the Windsor Census Metropolitan Area (CMA), which according to Statistics Canada includes the Towns of Amherstburg, LaSalle, Lakeshore and Tecumseh grew by 3.1 percent during the same period from 319,246 to 329,144. This makes it the 16th largest metropolitan area in Canada, bigger than Saskatoon, Regina, Sherbrooke, St. John’s and Barrie, but smaller than Victoria, Oshawa, Halifax, St. Catharines-Niagara and London. During the same period the population of Ontario grew by 4.6% and 5.0% nationwide.
