Kinsmen Norman Road Park Redevelopment Open House

The City of Windsor is moving forward with plans to redevelop Kinsmen Norman Road Park at 1730 Olive Road. Guided by community input, the redevelopment will create a more inviting and active neighbourhood park with new recreational amenities, gathering spaces, pathways, and landscaping.

Proposed Park Improvements

The redevelopment concept includes:

• A basketball court
• A shaded picnic area
• Outdoor fitness equipment
• New pathways and lighting
• Additional trees and benches

This concept plan will guide the detailed design and future construction of the park improvements.

Public Consultation

Public consultation has played an important role in shaping the project. The City first invited community input in 2022 and returned to the community with an updated concept plan at an open house on December 2, 2024. The accompanying online survey received 117 responses.

Feedback showed strong support for the proposed improvements, particularly new pathways, lighting, benches and trees. Residents also emphasized the importance of creating a safe and welcoming park for people of different ages and abilities. This feedback was used to refine the proposed redevelopment concept.

Project Update

The former washroom building was removed in summer 2025.

On January 12, 2026, City Council approved the rezoning of the southern portion of the property to permit six single-unit residential lots. Proceeds from the sale of the lots will be directed toward the planned park improvements. The residential lots are now available for purchase.
