Lanspeary Park, an 11-acre park, was developed with the assistance of the Lions Club of Windsor. The park serves as a key community gathering space and hosts the annual Windsor Labour Day Festival. Park Redevelopment

Lanspeary Park is undergoing a major revitalization guided by a City Council–approved master plan (January 2024). Shaped by extensive public consultation, the redevelopment will transform the park into a more inclusive, accessible, and vibrant public space while preserving its historic character.

Key Improvements

The redevelopment will introduce a wide range of new and enhanced features, including the following:

  • Family-focused playground (approximately 2,200 square metres)
  • Multi-use accessible asphalt trail (3 metres wide, 1.6 kilometres in length)
  • Expanded shaded outdoor paved plaza (875 square metres)
  • Community garden with seating and gathering space
  • New outdoor swimming pool with water slide and support building
  • Splash pad (approximately 540 square metres)
  • Basketball courts (2)
  • Pickleball courts (6)
  • Tennis courts (2)

Park Enhancements and Amenities

  • Renovation of the heritage band stand
  • Preservation of existing brick pavers
  • Renovation of heritage entry walls and gates
  • Maintenance of the heritage building and climate-resilient home
  • Renovated public washroom building
  • New and enhanced parking areas, including the following:
    • Large accessible parking lot (replacing part of the former greenhouse site)
    • Expanded parking at Langlois Avenue
  • Transformation of the existing parking lot into a central green pathway connection from Giles Boulevard

Landscape and Public Realm Improvements

  • Preservation of existing mature trees
  • New tree planting to increase shade and canopy coverage
  • Pedestrian LED lighting throughout the park
  • Picnic and gathering areas, including the following:
    • Six rainbow-coloured picnic tables with umbrellas
    • Additional picnic tables and seating areas
  • Chess tables, benches, and rest areas (including corner seating spaces)
  • Trash and recycling containers (silo-style units)
