Playground Replacement Program

In 2021, City Council approved the next phase of playground replacements, with the bulk of site preparation and installation of play equipment to take place during the 2022 and 2023 construction seasons. A City of Windsor news release announced the $9.4 million budget that will bring new accessible playgrounds to 32 more parks, making a total of 86 accessible playgrounds throughout the city with nearly 70 percent of all 125 public play structures being upgraded and modernized; additionally, two large playgrounds - at Legacy Park and Wilson Park - were built outside the Playground Replacement Program.

On August 6, 2021, Mayor Dilkens announced:

"I am pleased to be here on behalf of my colleagues on City Council to officially launch the City of Windsor’s 2021 playground replacement program."

"Modern playgrounds also make our neighbourhoods more livable and desirable."

"I am here to confirm that it is a priority for me as mayor."

"From Lake Laguna Park in Ward 1 to Brookview Park in Ward 10 … and every ward in between. No neighbourhood was left behind in our Playground Replacement Program."
