Cabana Road East Corridor Widening - Lauzon Parkway Municipal Class EA Study Addendum

The City of Windsor has initiated a Schedule C Project Addendum to the Lauzon Parkway Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) Study for the Cabana Road East Corridor Widening project.

Improvements to Cabana Road East (formerly County Road 42) were originally identified through the Lauzon Parkway Improvements Municipal Class EA Study completed in 2014, which recommended a four-lane roadway cross-section from Walker Road to the eastern city of Windsor boundary. Since completion of the study, significant growth and development within the study area and surrounding lands has resulted in changes to transportation demands, traffic forecasts, and infrastructure requirements. As a result, a review of the approved recommendations is warranted.

The purpose of this EA addendum study is to review and confirm the need, design, and timing for widening Cabana Road East to a six-lane cross-section between Walker Road and the eastern city of Windsor boundary. The study will also evaluate associated active transportation, drainage, utility, and intersection improvements required to support future growth along the corridor.

About the Process

This notice marks the commencement of the Municipal Class EA Addendum Study for the Cabana Road East Corridor Widening Project. The study will review the recommendations of the approved 2014 EA study, assess existing and future transportation needs, and identify any modifications required to the Cabana Road East corridor. Consultations will be undertaken with Indigenous communities, regulatory agencies, property owners, the public, and other interested stakeholders throughout the study process. Potential impacts on the social, cultural, economic, and natural environments will be evaluated, and appropriate mitigation measures will be identified and considered as part of the study process.

This study is being carried out in accordance with the requirements of Schedule C of the Municipal Class EA process, as amended, under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. As part of the study, a public information centre (PIC) will be held later in 2026 to seek input from the public. Comments received through the course of this study will be considered and documented in a comprehensive Environmental Study Report (ESR), which will be made available for public review at the end of the study.
