Development Charges
City-wide development charges are imposed on all lands in the City of Windsor.
Commencing June 1, 2020, the following are the newly assessed development charges for the City of Windsor. The three areas identified below ("City Wide", "Area 1" and "Sandwich South Planning District") reflect the rates imposed per the city-wide Development Charges By-law #60-2015 (see Building By-laws Online).
City Wide - Schedule B
Residential Development
Non-Residential Development
- Industrial development: $0 (exempt)
- Non-industrial development: $13.25 per square foot of gross floor area
Area 1 - Schedule C
Residential Development
- Single detached units: $2,282 per unit
- Semi, row, townhouse units: $1,617 per unit
- Apartment: $1,092 per unit
Non-Residential Development
- Industrial development: $0 (exempt)
- Non-industrial development: $0.26 per square foot of gross floor area
Sandwich South Planning District
Residential Development
- Single detached units:$44,196 per unit
- Semi, row, townhouse units: $29,887 per unit
- Apartment:$21,198 per unit
Non-Residential Development
- Industrial development: $0 (exempt)
- Other non-industrial development: $16.15 per square foot of gross floor area
Educational Development Charge
Effective April 22, 2020 - $905.00 per dwelling unit.
