Published

Open Streets Windsor East End Edition is almost here, and we look forward to welcoming the community out to enjoy our new 8-kilometre vehicle-free space on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This annual event, free to all, brings together residents and visitors alike to explore and enjoy the vibrant neighbourhoods that make Windsor unique.

This year, Open Streets Windsor has a new route showcasing the city’s east side and will transform an 8-kilometre stretch of roadway from Howard Avenue to St. Rose Avenue into a car-free zone, offering new opportunities for exploration and engagement. Music and activities will line the route, creating a festive atmosphere for all participants.

About Open Streets

Open Streets are unique events that have been held in over 100 cities in North America and involve the temporary closure of roadways to vehicular traffic, allowing people to use them for a host of healthy and fun physical activities like walking, cycling, yoga, dancing, fitness and more.

If you’re riding your bike through the route, please be courteous to pedestrians, especially in busier hubs. Consider dismounting and walking your bike through tighter spots, and watch for signage as well, as dismounting will be required within limited areas along the route.
