2024 Summer Student Lottery Program Information

The information contained on this website is meant to assist students interested in applying for the City of Windsor Summer Student Lottery Program. It is subject to change pending various factors involved in the recruitment process, budget, etc.

The City of Windsor may hire a certain number of students, however, there is no guarantee that any given number will be hired during the Summer Student Lottery Program.

Note: Students who have worked previous summers or are still currently working must re-apply and meet all qualifications to be eligble for the 2024 Student Lottery Program. Students placed in the Parks departmet may be eligible to work year round.

We are optimistic that there well be no delays to the student start dates, however, it is possible that the Summer Student Lottery Program could be delayed or cancelled as a result of the current pandemic. Learn more in our introductory "Summer Student Work" video on YouTube:

The following outlines our anticipated process and the order in which we will complete the lottery. Note that we have anticipated dates for each stage, providing students with a frame of reference on the anticipated recruitment. The City of Windsor's recruitment process is subject to change.

Run student lottery

Post student lottery results to Summer Student Lottery Results page

Email applicants their lottery ranking number

6 Hire Date Various dates throughout the month of April 2024/May 2024

Step 1 - Application available online

In order to apply for Summer Student Lottery Program, applications will only be accepted online for the period of application availability as indicated in the table above. No late applications will be accepted.

Step 2 - Application review

All applications will be reviewed to ensure the eligibility requirements are met and all data is complete on the application in order to be placed in the lottery.

Step 3 - Run lottery; post results; email applicants

The lottery system is a secured computer program that randomly draws applications for order of consideration for employment. Lottery results will be posted to the Summer Student Lottery Program Results page as they become available. Time permitting, it is anticipated that each applicant will be emailed their lottery number.

Step 4 - Offer employment

Those students who will be offered a position will be contacted via email or phone and provided further direction of what information will be required to complete and attain in order to work for the City of Windsor. Please review the City of Windsor Student Lottery FAQ page for more information.

Step 5 - Processing of students

Processing involves students providing the necessary documentation along with signing the required paperwork for employment. For more information on the paperwork that will be required, please review the City of Windsor Student Lottery FAQ page.

Step 6 - Hire date

Hire dates for each student will vary based on need of departments and availability. Students will be notified of their date of hire in their offer of employment letter.
