Official Plan Review

The Ontario Planning Act requires all municipalities to periodically update their respective official plan as part of a review process. The following list provides an update on the City’s Official Plan Review and the amendments that have been approved. The completion of amendments 86 and 87 have been delayed as a result of substantial changes introduced by the Provincial Policy Statement of 2020.

Status of Official Plan Review Official Plan Amendments:

• Official Plan Amendment No. 76: General Housekeeping: Approved by Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing January 29, 2012.
• Official Plan Amendment No. 79: Urban Structure Plan: Approved by Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing June 29, 2012.
• Official Plan Amendment No. 81: Infrastructure: Approved by Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing September 7, 2012
• Official Plan Amendment No. 84: Procedures and Tools: Approved by Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing September 7, 2012
• Official Plan Amendment No. 85: Introduction and Glossary: Approved by Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing August 28, 2013
• Official Plan Amendment No. 86: Land Use: Updating for consistency with the Provincial Policy Statement, 2020

There will be an opportunity for members of the public to provide comments on changes being proposed as part of Official Plan Amendments 86 and 87 before it is considered by City Council.

The process for consulting with the people of Windsor about each of these amendments will follow the regulations in the Planning Act.
