The City of Windsor's treasured Public Art Collection is anchored by the waterfront sculpture garden (known as the
"museum without walls") and branches out with breathtaking and fascinating works shining throughout the city.
The Windsor Sculpture Park is a unique outdoor gallery showcasing more than 31 large-scale, internationally recognized works of contemporary sculpture by world-renowned artists. The sculpture park is located on the shores of the Detroit River between the Ambassador Bridge and Festival Plaza. Sculptures are also showcased in other City of Windsor parks, including Reaume Park, Jackson Park, the Vision Corridor and City Hall Square.
The Windsor Sculpture Park was originally made possible by the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Odette and the P & L Odette Foundation. Today, the artworks are maintained by the City of Windsor's Recreation and Culture Department, as part of the Community Services division. Mr. Odette recognized the significance and value of art in public spaces; he generously donated a core group of diverse sculptures to the City of Windsor and viewed his gift as part of the Windsor culture scene -- an outdoor public gallery open every day of the year, free of charge to Windsorites and visitors.
The Windsor Sculpture Park displays the beauty and importance of public art as a significant cultural asset and welcomes new sculptures donated by other individuals and groups.
