ACHF Funded Projects 2016 Round 1
2016 Round 1 Grant Recipients and Funded Projects
Thirty-five applications totaling $139,164.06 were received and adjudicated by our Jury for the first round of funding in 2016. We are thrilled to announce that eighteen of these projects have received ACHF funding. We extend our congratulations to the following:
Barry T. Brodie: $2,500 - These funds will be used to design and build a portable set for the original show “The Death and Life of Tom Thomson” for touring in/around Windsor/Ontario.
Drouillard Place – Ford City Neighbourhood Renewal: $2,000 - These funds will be used for artist fees and supplies for mural painting in alley’s throughout Ford City.
Arts Collective Theatre (ACT): $3,000 – These funds will be used for performing arts workshops that partner local youth with performing arts mentors in a theatre setting.
Stephen J. Drouin: $2,500 – These funds will be used for artist fees and supplies for a DIY screen-printing graphic arts workshop in connection with the Windsor Youth Centre.
Asil Moussa: $2,000 - These funds will be used towards post-production work and film festival submissions and distribution for a locally-made short film, The Card.
Windsor Women Working With Immigrant Women: $3,000 - These funds will be used for artist fees, supplies, design and production for a 5-week workshop series focusing on Visual Arts by newcomers and Refugees of Windsor.
Len Gasparini: $2,000 - These funds will be used for artist fees and costs associated with the writing and development of a new poetry collection, Almost an Island.
Literary Arts Windsor: $3,025 – These funds will be used for author fees and promotion in connection with BookFest Windsor’s 2016 event to engage local youth in the literary arts.
Joel Boyce: $3,000 – These funds will be used for pre-production work, design and development and artist fees for a new, locally-created dramatic web series, A.R.I.D.
Jay Raven: $2,000 – These funds will be used for artist fees, materials and collaborative workshops for Walls of Windsor (WOW), an initiative to create themed murals in Windsor.
Ian Smith: $1,000 - These funds will be used for artist fees and production costs for Studio To Stage – a project that follows a song from conception to performance while partnering arts professionals with students and amateurs.
4th Wall Music: $4,225 – These funds will be used for artist fees, venue, materials, and promotions of the organizations fourth season (2016-2017) of live musical performances.
Windsor Classic Chorale: $850 – These funds will be used towards the venue and promotion of the 6th annual Windsor Choral Festival and Concert – United in Song.
Tracey B. Atin: $2,000 – These funds will be used artist fees for a concert (and workshop) focusing on Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and Sephardic music with The Light of East Ensemble, soloist Tracey Atin, and dancer Sandra Li.
Chris Dale: $3,000 – These funds will be used artist fees and expenses tied to the restoration of and performance with rock music’s rare instrument – the Birotron, allowing the original 40-year-old, unheard sound library to be accessed and archived.
Owen Swain: $3,000 - These funds will be used for artist fees, production costs and promotion of #tourdesketch – a bike and sketch tour uniting art and culture-based tourism.
Ian Baxter&: $3,500 – These funds will be used for artist fees and materials for the design and production of Reflections Of&On Windsor - a book on Windsor’s history told through photos and text.
Revolution Youth Theatre: $1,000 – These funds will be used for artist fees, design and production costs for a live theatre production by a local youth theatre arts organization.
