Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) Grant Program

Purpose

To promote the undertaking of environmental studies, so that more and better information is available with respect to the type of contamination and potential remediation costs on brownfield properties.

Description

Consists of a grant program to cover a portion of the cost of a Phase 2 ESA including Designated Substances and Hazardous Material Survey, Remedial Work Plan and a Risk Assessment.

Financial Details

Provides a matching grant of 50% of the cost of an eligible environmental study to a maximum grant of:

  • $15,000 per study
  • Two studies per property/project
  • $25,000 per property/project

Requirements

Applicants must complete and submit to the City for review a Phase 1 ESA that demonstrates that site contamination is likely.
