About Transit Windsor

Transit Windsor black and white logoOur mission is providing safe, reliable and affordable public transit for the community through continuous improvement in customer care, environmental stewardship and employee excellence.

Transit Windsor is a department of Transportation Services of the Corporation of the City of Windsor reporting to the Environment, Transportation and Public Safety Standing Committee.  The Windsor International Airport (YQG), The Windsor-Detroit Tunnel Corporation, as well as Transit Windsor are entities of Transportation Services.

Our buses are on the road 365 days a year, for approximately 21 hours a day and travel over 4 million kilometres annually. No wonder it is said that, "Our drivers are the eyes and ears of the community."
Transit Windsor has provided service to the community for over 140 years, with the following first highlights:
  • Canada's first electric street railway, which began operating in Windsor on May 28, 1886

  • The first Canadian city with an all electric transit system in 1891

  • Canada's first trolley bus operation on May 4, 1922
