Volunteer for Open Streets
Open Streets Windsor is creating a world-class program that will connect our diverse neighbourhoods and people across our community on Sunday, September 17, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 5p.m.
Open Streets is a program where streets are opened to people and closed to cars. People traffic replaces car traffic, and the streets become “paved parks” where visitors of all ages; abilities; and social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds can hit the streets to enjoy an array of healthy and fun physical and recreational outdoor activities.
We are looking for volunteers who are fun, friendly and excited about making a difference!
Reasons to volunteer:
Enjoy an opportunity to help others in your community
Have a great time yourself and meet new friends
Enhance your resume with a truly unique example of volunteer experience
Volunteer shifts: 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 17, 2017
Safety vests and water to be provided at the event times
Volunteer duties (subject to change):
Be available for handling of barricades before and after the event (i.e. setup 30 minutes prior to event start and teardown 30 minutes after the conclusion).
Greet participants as they enter the route.
Maintain safety of route for participants.
Assist with entrance/exit of authorized vehicles.
Direct unauthorized traffic to alternate routes.
Safely remove the barricade after the Windsor police cruiser has swept your location at the end of the event.
Training is mandatory for all volunteers. The City has prepared an interactive Training Manual, which compiles instructions and information every volunteer needs to know for the event.
Volunteers, please view the training manual online and email email@example.com if you have any questions.
