Submit the Application

The permit application requires information about the construction project. You will be asked to document who will perform the work, what work will be done, where the work will be done, when the work will be done, and how the work will be done. Scaled drawings, plans or other documentation of the proposed work will have to be submitted for review.

Note:  Incomplete applications or plans will not be accepted.

E-Permit

Before starting the online application, prepare the following documents in portable document format (PDF) to be uploaded into the application form. 

  • Building plans (floor plans, elevations and/or cross-sections),
  • Property survey or site plan.
  • Related Forms (Note: Forms A, B, D, E, F and G are for reference only. These forms will be completed and submitted directly through E-Services)

Once you have the information to attach, proceed to the online application to submit for permit.

Reminder: First time users will need to register.

Fees

A building permit fee is required and can by paid by debit, Visa, Mastercard, cash or cheque, payable to the "City of Windsor" (cheques need not be certified). The fee is determined by staff in the Building Division and is based on the estimated cost of your project. Permit fee schedules give a list of current fees.  A Customer Service Representative (CSR) will contact you when the fees are established.

You may also be required to submit an indemnity deposit to cover potential damage to City property or mud cleanup.
