W.F. Chisholm Branch at Optimist Community Centre

A 6,500 square-foot building addition to the Optimist Community Centre located at 1075 Ypres Avenue to house the consolidation of the South Walkerville and Remington library branches.

A 6,000-square-foot addition to the existing library building located at 1310 Grand Marais Road West. The work includes the relocation of the existing parking lot and renovations to the existing roof and flooring.

Main Branch Library - Paul Martin Building (PMB)

Approximately 29,000 square feet are currently occupied by the library at the Paul Martin Building distributed as follows:

  • Basement storage area (4,000 square feet)
  • Main floor public area (13,000 square feet)
  • 2nd floor staff area (12,000 square feet)
  • Existing surface parking lot by the library main entrance

John Muir Renovations

The new Sandwich Library is an adaptive reuse of designated heritage buildings (Main and Stable) on the former Sandwich Fire Hall site located at 363 Mill Street and erected in 1921.

The new Sandwich Library project is generally expected to include the following;

  • Main Building: A heritage-sensitive building adaptive reuse of approximately 2000 square feet of the main floor in addition to a small partial basement. Removal of the second floor interior space.
  • Stable Building: An exterior restoration of a heritage-sensitive building of approximately 610 square feet.
  • Children's area, a teen area, internet cafe, a community room, and a 25,000-volume collection.
  • Accommodations for a new parking lot east of the main building for approximately 20 vehicles with provisions for Pay and Display parking.
