Responsible To:

  1. Director of Resident Services
  2. Entertainment & Activities Coordinator
  3. Volunteer Coordinator

Purpose of Position

  1. To provide social opportunities to residents in a relaxing atmosphere during cocktail hour

Functional Responsibilities

  • Open, operate and close bar
  • Ensure that open bar is not left unattended under any circumstances
  • Socialize with residents
  • Work in co-operation with volunteers and staff currently operating the bar
  • Report to Huron Lodge immediately should any problem or emergency arise
  • Inform the Entertainment Coordinator or any other designated staff of any problems that may arise in the operation of the bar
  • Be responsible for the cash
  • Monitor drink limit of residents and guests
  • Mix and serve drinks
  • Attend volunteer meetings as required
  • Follow all rules, policies and procedures in effect for the operation of the bar under the Liquor Control Act of Ontario.
  • Be mindful of memos posted regarding residents' special needs

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work with the elderly, their families, and other volunteer staff
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle money
  • Reliability
  • Mandatory attendance at Smart Serve Training Program developed by the Addiction Research Foundation
