Poetry at the Manor - Vol. 3

Poetry reading inside WillisteadOn Thursday, November 12, 2015, the City of Windsor and Windsor’s Poet Laureate Marty Gervais presented Poetry at the Manor Vol. 3. - the free, third annual event of its kind at historic Willistead Manor.

Marty Gervais welcomed 5 poets from across Canada (including some past and present poets laureate).

The poets gathered at the manor from 7-9 p.m. for an evening of poetry and storytelling peppered with questions from the audience. Copies of the poets' works were available to purchase after the reading.

In The Windsor Star’s 2012 article Poetry at Willistead Manor draws overflow crowd, the writer noted, “Poetry fans filled the arranged seating in the main hall of the venerable old mansion, and the overflow crowd filled doorways and several sat and stood on the grand staircase.”

The 2015 version of the event brought more of the same - a spectacular and unforgettable evening.

New Poet Laureate Book - "Touch The Darkness"

At the event, Marty Gervais launched - and read from - his brand new, hot-off-the-press poetry collection, "Touch The Darkness" featuring poems Marty has written since he became Windsor's Poet Laureate in 2011. Copies of the book are available online at Black Moss Press.
