Ward Boundary Options

On August 24, 2009 City Council passed By-law 133 2009 to redivide the existing wards into 10 wards in the City of Windsor with one-member representation in each ward. This by-law takes effect on the day the new council of the City of Windsor is organized following the regular municipal election in 2010. The regular municipal election scheduled for 2010 shall be conducted as if this by-law was already in force. Learn more about the newly approved ward boundaries.

Preliminary Ward Options

  • See the Final Consultant's Report, July 13, 2009.
  • 5-Ward Option: The five-ward option differs from the present system in making use of the E.C. Row Expressway from Huron Church Road to the Town of Tecumseh border, as well as the large railway yards on the west side of the downtown, Walker Road and Lauzon Road/Lauzon Parkway.
  • Ten-Ward Option: The ten-ward option maintains many of the present ward boundaries along the southern edge of the proposed Wards Two, Three, and Four as well as the Walker Road boundary between the present Wards Three and Four. It uses the E.C. Row Expressway from Dougall Avenue to the City's eastern boundary and Tecumseh Road from Pillette Road to the City's eastern boundary.
  • Eight-Ward Option: The eight-ward option maintains a few of the present ward boundaries such as the Walker Road boundary between the present Ward Three and Four and part of the Tecumseh Road East boundary between the present Wards Two and Three. It uses the E.C. Row Expressway from Huron Church Road to the City's eastern boundary.
