Heat Warning Cancelled, Temporary Cooling Centre Closes

The temporary cooling centre opened in the Windsor International Aquatics and Training Centre atrium on Sunday, August 9 and Monday August 10 is now closed as the heat warning alert from the Windsor Essex County Health Unit has been lifted.

Heat warnings are issued by the health unit when two consecutive days are forecasted to have a daytime high temperature of 31 degrees Celsius or hotter and a nighttime temperature of 21 degrees Celsius or more or a humidex greater than 42 degrees Celsius.

When heat warnings are issued, you should take extra precautions to protect yourself and loved ones from heat related health risks.  It is also asked that you check on elderly or vulnerable individuals you know who are more susceptible to the heat during these extreme weather conditions.
