Take it All In: Bright Lights Windsor Returns December 2

Take a break... take a walk... take some pics... and take it all in...

Bright Lights Windsor is back at Jackson Park to dazzle and inspire visitors from December 2, 2022, to January 8, 2023. We had to change course in a major way in 2020, and we were able to return to something much closer to the classic format in 2021, but now we’re fully back on track for 2022!

Here are a few highlights of what’s in store for this year’s festival:

  • This year’s theme is “Take It All In,” and our path this year takes you through a series of exciting zones: Wish Upon a Star; Winter Wonderland; the new Royal Promenade in honour of Her Majesty, the late Queen Elizabeth II; Santa’s Workshop; Peace & Love Around the World; W.E. the North, and our new Children’s Enchanted Village, where kids can write letters to Santa from the comfort of our inflatable igloo, or ride the Holiday Train and enjoy our new scavenger hunt, sponsored by Libro Credit Union. Opportunities to be wowed at every turn and excellent settings for the perfect picture – including some fun new selfie stations – will be abundant.
  • The WE Made It: Holiday Market returns, sponsored by Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island in partnership with the Urban Art Market, Rose City Etsy Team and WindsorEats. The full holiday market will be open Fridays and Saturdays, with a partial market for food and beverages operating during the week. Along with the market, several excellent local food and beverage options will be available.
  • Sensory friendly “Silent Nights” are offered on Tuesday evenings. The lights will be on, but sound will be muted and strobe elements paused so the display can be enjoyed in a peaceful environment that is accommodating to sensory sensitivities.
  • We have a number of gracious sponsors, including Tim Hortons, Libro Credit Union, University of Windsor, St. Clair College, St. Clair College Alumni Association, RE/MAX Care Realty Team Goran, Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island, WindsorEssex Community Foundation, WFCU Credit Union, AM800 CKLW, CTV Windsor, windsoriteDOTca News, and The Windsor Star.
  • Encouraging Windsor’s incredible charitable spirit will be a priority once again this year, and each week we will have a designated hut for a Community Giving Partner to showcase. W.E. Care for Kids will be here with hot chocolate on weekends for the duration, and our weekly showcases will also feature Operation Keep Windsor Warm; Noah’s House Mental Health Foundation Inc.; Ronald McDonald House Charities – Southwestern Ontario; Feeding Windsor Essex; Sleep In Heavenly Peace – Windsor; and In Honour of the Ones We Love, Inc..

Opening ceremonies take place this year at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2022, after which the event runs every night from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. until January 8, 2023.

“Bright Lights Windsor is back, and we’re inviting everyone to ‘take it all in’ at Jackson Park’s incredible wonderland. From the Holiday Train and Enchanted Children’s Village, to Santa’s Workshop and the new Royal Promenade honouring the late Queen Elizabeth II – there’s something for everyone. I’m proud of this festival and all it offers our community. Join in the festivities, shop and support local in the W.E. Made It Local holiday market, and help out where you can with donations to our various community giving partners on site. Thanks to the organizers and sponsors for delivering an award-winning festival year after year, and bringing light, joy and wonder through the holiday season.” – Mayor Drew Dilkens
