Provincial Offences Fine Timelines Reinstituted

If you have an outstanding Windsor/Essex Provincial Offences Act (POA) ticket, the time is once again ticking to address it.

Earlier in the COVID-19 pandemic, most POA timelines were suspended. This meant that if you received a ticket after February 1, 2020, there were no repercussions if you did not follow the instructions on the back of your ticket. That is no longer the case. If you received a ticket after February 1, 2020, and you did not follow the instructions on the back of your ticket, you are required to do so as of February 26, 2021. Failing to follow those instructions means you will be, or may have already been, convicted of the charge, and the full amount owing plus any associated court costs will have to be paid within 30 days of your conviction.

Once the 30 days from conviction expire, if you still have not paid what is owing, you will have your licence placed on ministry suspension until all restitutions are made, and you will be responsible for any extra costs to have a licence reinstated.

To find out your status, or for any other questions about your outstanding fines and/or convictions, please call the Windsor/Essex Provincial Offences Office at 519-255-6555.
