Open House for Proposed National Urban Park

The City of Windsor, in collaboration with Parks Canada and consultant WSP E&I Canada Limited, is holding an open house on Thursday, November 17, 2022, to share the latest information on Windsor’s proposed national urban park and solicit feedback and suggestions.

The open house will be held at the Ojibway Nature Centre, 5200 Matchette Road, where all are welcome between 4:00 and 7:00 p.m.

City staff and Parks Canada officials will be on hand to answer questions and share information boards outlining the draft study area of the proposed park, and help attendees understand the goals of the program, and learn about the designation process. A survey will also be available asking for your feedback and input on the proposed park.

What is a National Urban Park?

Parks Canada has launched a new program in 2021 to create a network of national urban parks across Canada in order to support access to nature in urban centres. National urban parks will contribute to conservation of nature in urban areas and biodiversity goals, provide access to nature for people living in major urban centres, and advance reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples.
