Lanspeary Ready for Action!

The City of Windsor is proud to support another positive outdoor opportunity for residents starting July 24 as Lanspeary Park hosts its first events dedicated to not-for-profit and charitable organization fundraising efforts.

The expanded use of Lanspeary is part of the commitment City Council made during the 2021 budget process to waive rental fees in the park to help those agencies suffering during the global pandemic.

Amenities such as the gazebo and arena pad will be the locations for events and activities beginning July 24, 2021, offered through the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), Serenity Song, Transition to Betterness and WindsorEats. More events offered by other organizations will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

Windsor’s move to Step 3 of the Ontario's Roadmap to Reopen plan allows for larger outdoor gatherings, but please keep social distancing and mask use in mind when attending.

In an effort to support small businesses and the hospitality sector, Windsor City Council has waived fees for outdoor patios, and for the second summer in a row has worked with restaurants and bars to establish outdoor parklets for expanded seating options.

“The City of Windsor is taking every action we can to make it easier for small businesses to respond and pivot to evolving public health guidelines,” said Mayor Drew Dilkens. “The use of Lanspeary Park by community groups, charities and Windsor Eats makes more space available for safe activities that promote and support local organizations.”
