First Notification Test for Windsor Alerts
The City of Windsor and Windsor Fire and Rescue will be conducting a test of the new Windsor Alerts emergency notification system on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at 1:15 p.m.
The Windsor Alerts system is a new way to send emergency information to residents—fast!
All residents who have signed up will receive the notification through the delivery method(s) that they chose upon registration. Residents who have not registered for Windsor Alerts are encouraged to do so in order to receive this test and future emergency alerts. Sign up for free at www.windsoralerts.ca.
How Does the Alert System Work?
The Windsor Alerts system will be used to notify subscribers of significant emergencies and disasters, such as large fires, tornados, flooding and more. Every resident is asked to sign up by providing his or her cell phone, email address, home phone and home address. The home address information is important, as it allows for geographically targeted notifications to be sent out to affected areas.
Alerts may be broadcast via the following delivery methods:
Email account (work, home, other)
Cell phone (SMS Text)
Home phone (Voice)
Cell phone (Voice)
Everbridge Mobile Member App
This system is for Windsor addresses only, however, if are not a resident but you work in Windsor, you can sign up using your work address to receive alerts specific to that location.
