Impact to EarlyON Child and Family Centres, Child Care as well as Recreation Opportunities during School Closures and Work Stoppages​

The City of Windsor wants to ensure families impacted by work stoppages and school closures know what to expect when it comes to EarlyON Child and Family Centre’s located within schools, as well as special day camp opportunities in City recreation facilities.

Should there be local school closures in the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board (WECDSB), that would mean the closure of the EarlyON Child and Family Centre’s located within the following schools:

  • Holy Name Catholic Elementary School (Essex)
  • H.J. Lassaline Catholic Elementary School (Windsor)
  • Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH) Catholic Elementary School (Windsor)
  • Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School (Lasalle)
  • St. Pius Catholic Elementary School (Tecumseh)

Should there be local school closures in the Greater Essex County District School Board system (GECDSB), that would mean the closure of theEarlyON Child and Family Centre’s located within the following schools:

  • Amherstburg Public School
  • General Brock Public School (Windsor)
  • Dougall Public School (Windsor)
  • Harrow Public School
  • Lakeshore Discovery Public School (Belle River)
  • Margaret D. Bennie Public School (Leamington)
  • Princess Elizabeth Public School (Windsor)
  • Talbot Trail Public School (Windsor)
  • Begley Public School (Windsor)
  • Westgate Public School (Windsor)
  • Roseville Public School (Windsor)
  • Queen Elizabeth Public School (Leamington)
  • John Campbell Public School (Windsor)

Child Care:

Per the school boards, child care centres are able to remain open during closures, however it is recommended to contact your childcare provider. If you would like information on Child Care and/or Child Care Subsidy (including approved day camp programs) throughout Windsor-Essex, please contact Children’s Services Intake line at 519-255-5312.

City Recreation Department Offers Options:

In preparation of the latest reports on school closures we are now taking registrations for day camp programs on February 4th, 6th, and 7th, 2020 for ages 4 and up for $32.00 / day. The locations and barcodes are as follows:

Children can be dropped off for this program as early as 7:30 am and picked up as late as 5:30 pm. Parents wishing to secure a spot for their child can register at any time at any of our Community Centres. All locations offering this program will be open at 7:30 am on and prepared to take registrations. In the event that schools are open, a full refund will be issued.
