City Expands Opportunities for Parents During School Job Actions

The City of Windsor’s recreation department is expanding the number of locations and opportunities for parents needing child care during school work stoppages.

Registrations are now being accepted for day camp programs on February 11 and 12, 2020. The locations, information and barcodes are as follows:

Parents wishing to secure a spot for their child can register at any time at any of our Community Centres, and all facilities will be prepared to take day-of registrations at the start of the program. In the event that schools are open, a full refund will be issued.

EarlyON Child and Family Centres Information:

The City of Windsor wants to ensure that families impacted by work stoppages and school closures know what to expect when it comes to EarlyON Child and Family Centres located within schools.

During school closures in the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board (WECDSB), the following EarlyON Child and Family Centres located within the following schools would be closed:

  • Holy Name Catholic Elementary School (Essex)
  • H.J. Lassaline Catholic Elementary School (Windsor)
  • Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH) Catholic Elementary School (Windsor)
  • Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School (LaSalle)
  • St. Pius Catholic Elementary School (Tecumseh)

During local school closures in the Greater Essex County District School Board system (GECDSB), the EarlyON Child and Family Centres located within the following schools would be closed:

  • Amherstburg Public School
  • General Brock Public School (Windsor)
  • Dougall Public School (Windsor)
  • Harrow Public School
  • Lakeshore Discovery Public School (Belle River)
  • Margaret D. Bennie Public School (Leamington)
  • Princess Elizabeth Public School (Windsor)
  • Talbot Trail Public School (Windsor)
  • Begley Public School (Windsor)
  • Westgate Public School (Windsor)
  • Roseville Public School (Windsor)
  • Queen Elizabeth Public School (Leamington)
  • John Campbell Public School (Windsor)

Child Care:

Per the school boards, child care centres are able to remain open during closures, however it is recommended to contact your child care provider. If you would like information on Child Care and/or Child Care Subsidy (including approved day camp programs) throughout Windsor-Essex, please contact Children’s Services Intake line at 519-255-5312.
