By-Election Called to Fill Vacant Ward 7 Seat
Windsor City Council, at its meeting held November 18, 2019 voted that the City Clerk be directed to conduct a by-election to fill the vacant Council seat in Ward 7.
Nominations are now open and candidates seeking nomination have until March 13, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. to register.
The by-election will be held on Monday, April 27, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Polling locations are being finalized and will be released soon. Advanced voting will take place on Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18, 2020 at Forest Glade Arena.
Residents seeking nomination must fill out the prescribed forms, available in the City Clerk’s Office (350 City Hall Square West, Room 530). A nomination filing fee of $100 applies (cash, debit, or credit card payment only).
Nominations must be signed by the candidate and filed in person or by an agent during regular business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, from January 14 to March 12, 2020, or between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Nomination Day, March 13, 2020.
Those wishing to run for election must be, at the time of being nominated:
A resident of the City of Windsor or a non-resident-owner or tenant of land in the City of Windsor, or the spouse of such owner or tenant;
A Canadian Citizen;
At least 18 years old;
Not disqualified by any legislation from holding municipal office.
