Transit Windsor

As an agency of the City of Windsor, Transit Windsor management reports to a Board of Directors appointed by City Council and is responsible for planning, development, marketing and operation of public transit systems based on the policies and budget allocations established by City Council.

Our buses are on the road 365 days a year, for approximately 21 hours a day, and travel over 4 million kilometres annually.  No wonder it is said that "our drivers are the eyes and ears of the community."

Transit Windsor has provided service to the community for over 130 years, with the following highlights:
  • Canada's first electric street railway, which began operating in Windsor on May 28th, 1886
  • The first Canadian city with an all electric transit system in 1891
  • Canada's first trolley bus operation on May 4, 1922
