How Can I Help?

Donate at Home

Donations to organizations focusing on re-settlement can provide quick support to families as they begin new lives:

Food Donations

There is a special need for Halal foods, cooking oils, dry milk, tomato sauce, canned beans/fish/vegetables and dry goods (beans, rice, chickpeas, etc.) along with baby supplies, spices and personal hygiene items. Food donations can be dropped off at the Unemployed Help Centre or a local food bank in your area.

Volunteer your time/skills

Together we can help. If you are interested in supporting efforts to welcome refugees in our community please visit WeVolunteer to register and learn more.

If you would like to register within Ontario please visit SPARK Ontario.

Volunteer your expertise as a lawyer

Windsor lawyers interested in being involved with the Windsor SSP Program should contact Anneke Smit at asmit@uwindsor.ca or by phone at 519-563-7401 or Laura Stairs at stairs@uwindsor.ca. No immigration/refugee law experience is necessary. SSP lawyers and law students will provide pro bono legal assistance to sponsor groups in completing and submitting their sponsorship applications.

Residents are encouraged to donate to existing organizations which have the expertise, staffing and logistics to manage donations. All donations will be made available to people in need, including Syrian Refugees.
