Fire Hall No. 5
The new Fire Hall No. 5 will be a 10,000-square-foot facility located at 2180 Northwood Street, at the intersection of Daytona Avenue and Northwood Street. It will be the new home to a team of City Fire Fighters. The facility boasts three (3) truck bays with a uniquely designed office and living quarters to accommodate eight (8) fire fighters and up to three (3) staff members in the Captain's quarters. The facility will include a variety of environmentally sustainable features within the design.
The Ministry of Natural Resources & Forestry (MNRF) identified this site to have known occurences of species at risk (SAR) which required a full MNRF permit.
Amec Foster Wheeler was hired to provide consulting services and guide the City through the full MNRF permitting process. Extensive reviews, assessments and negotiations took place in order to complete the following documents:

Alternative Analysis Form
Overall Benefit Permit Application Package
The Overall Benefit Package was completed and submitted to the MNRF Alymer District office, May 2015. Various iterations of comments and resulting clarifications were made during the following months.
In December 2015, MNRF Aylmer District office issued a public notice of the permit details on the environmental registry for 30 days for review/comments.
On March 3rd, 2016, the City received the formal MNRF permit.
