Born in Italy, Councillor Fulvio Valentinis has been a resident of Windsor since the age of four. A graduate of Assumption High School, he received his Bachelor of Law (LL.B) degree from the University of Windsor and was called to the bar in Ontario as a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada in 1976. He practiced law in Windsor with emphasis on real estate, corporate and commercial law. Currently, Councillor Valentinis is a Professor and Coordinator of Legal Studies at Saint Clair College, responsible for the Law Clerk/Paralegal Program and the delivery of law courses to the Business, Technology and Hospitality areas.
Councillor Valentinis was elected to the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board in 1991 and served as Chair of both the Management and Budget Committees. In 1994, he was elected to City Council representing residents of Ward 3 and was re-elected in 1997, 2000 and 2003. He has served on the Assessment and Property Taxation Task Force and the Casino Monitoring Committee, and most recently was appointed to the national board of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.
In his community work, Councillor Valentinis has served as President of the Windsor and District Security Council and of the St. Angela's Senior Citizens and Non-Profit Housing Corporation. He was honoured in 2003 as Windsor's Italian of the Year.
Councillor Valentinis is a strong advocate of fiscal fitness and debt reduction. As author of the Road Fitness Policy, he is committed to greater emphasis on roads and sewer infrastructure. He also lists as priorities increased cleanliness in streets, parks and private property, and the overall greening of Windsor. Valentinis supports a more aggressive crackdown on graffiti and on the proliferation of massage parlours.
Fulvio Valentinis and his wife Vita are the proud parents of Alissia, Giulia and Nadia.
