Manifested Buses to Detroit Venues

Effective Sunday, August 15, 2010, the manifested program offered for tunnel and special event buses to Detroit will be suspended.

However, tunnel and special event buses will continue to operate as scheduled.  Only the "manifested" program of reserving a seat and providing documentation for pre-authorization will be suspended until further notice.  See the news release for further details.

What?

  • Reserve a seat on a manifested tunnel bus designed to get you to the action faster at Comerica Park, Ford Field and Joe Louis Arena/Cobo Hall.  Enjoy reduced wait times, no lines, and a guaranteed seat on the direct bus to the home game or event.
  • We recommend reserving your seat 24 hours in advance of your scheduled trip.
  • Reservations must be made a minimum of 4 hours prior to event time.

How?

It's easy to use with two (2) simple steps:

  1. Call Transit Windsor or 311* to reserve a seat.

  2. Provide your full name, gender, date of birth and passport number
Note: Effective, June 1, 2009 all Canadians will require a valid passport for travelling by land to the U.S.

Why?

  • The manifested list is provided to Customs & Border Protection (CBP) prior to departure for pre-authorization.  Now you can clear U.S. Customs faster by providing your personal information in advance.  You remain on the bus while a Customs officer boards for inspection.  Anyone requiring secondary inspection will be asked to proceed to the inspection area, and upon clearance, will catch the next bus to the event.

Cost?

  • There is no additional fee for reserving a seat on a manifested bus.  Exact fare is $3.75 each way to the Joe.  $4.00 each way to Comerica Park or Ford Field.  Trip tickets may be purchased in advance at selected sales outlets.

Particulars:

  1. Buses begin returning to Windsor immediately after, and up to a maximum of 30 minutes past the event conclusion (except Lions games: 60 minutes max).

  2. Pre-manifesting does not preclude the need to carry/provide proof of citizenship when crossing the border.  View list of acceptable identification – Border Crossing Requirements (Note changes effective June 1, 2009).

  3. Tunnel buses are still available on regularly scheduled times and passengers need not reserve a seat or provide pre-authorization information.  See our complete Transit schedule.
