Councillor Jo-Anne Gignac has been a lifelong resident of Ward 5. She is a Past Chairperson of the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board and has also been Vice Chairperson and Chairperson of committees in management, education, finance, contract negotiation, policy development and race relations. She is a former Director of the Ontario Catholic Trustee Association. Councillor Gignac has worked for Census Canada as a Census Commissioner and for Elections Canada as an Enumeration Supervisor, Supervisor of Revisions and Assistant Returning Officer during federal elections. Her professional career includes human resources work for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and internal auditing for Robert Simpson, Ltd.

In her community work, Councillor Gignac has been a director of the Children's Achievement Centre, Habitat for Humanity, the May Court Club of Windsor, Windsor Catholic Family Services and the Diocese of London Lay Deanery.

Councillor Gignac says she is dedicated to finding community based solutions to make Windsor an even more attractive place to live and work. Among her priorities are a balanced municipal budget, safe neighbourhoods, and improved roads and sewers.
Gignac believes that a sound business plan is essential to encourage investment by business and industry and to maintain a prosperous community. She supports research and development that will bolster Windsor as a driving force in the economies of both Ontario and Canada.

Councillor Gignac says she is committed to working tirelessly with residents to achieve vibrant, attractive community at the forefront of social and economic innovation.
