Sport Fields:  July 23, 2010

Ford Test Track - open on limited fields for games only.  No practices tonight.

All baseball diamonds and soccer fields are closed on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 as a result of torrential rains.

Please keep in mind the sports field policy which states:

Parks and Recreation reserves the right to cancel utilization of all stadium and open athletic fields due to inclement weather conditions.  We request your co-operation by not utilizing fields, which would be classed as unsuitable for play:
  1. Water pooling on a playing field constitutes closure of the field.
  2. Wet/muddy field conditions, which could in the opinion of the Park Attendant, make the field unsuitable for play constitutes closure of the field.
  3. On stadium facilities, the gates will be locked and a sign posted indicating the closure.
  4. The presence of an electrical storm constitutes an immediate closure of the field. We ask for the cooperation of the officials and coaches in order to ensure the safety of the players and spectators.  Stadium facilities will be locked, and lights turned off.
We ask that all groups please use common sense in such situations and that you not undertake draining of fields or remove pooled water on your own.  More often than not, considerable damage is done to the playing field rendering it unusable to others.
Please keep in mind:

A 30 minute delay of play after lightning is mandatory.
