  • Hybrid buses unveiled on Monday, June 22, 2009.  Find out more.

  • Transit and the Environment go hand in hand. The following information stresses the importance and necessity of providing sustainable transportation:
    • Transportation is the biggest cause of air pollution in our cities.
    • A single bus can eliminate up to 50 single-occupancy vehicles.
    • One busload of passengers saves 9 tons of air pollution each year.

  • Transit Windsor used low sulphur diesel years prior to government legislation, and diesel engines are modified to reduce particulate matter using CAM converter.

  • New bus purchases have the most current emission standards.

  • Bike racks are added to our total accessible buses in an effort to combine two modes of environmentally friendly transportation.

  • Transit Windsor participates in many community events such as Earth Day and Clean Air Day.

  • We are actively involved in finding new and innovative technology or programs to help reduce emissions. Read about our current pilot project with Rotec Design Ltd by visiting Engine Technology Pilot Project Webpage to test a low emission engine, or find out about the 2003 pilot project by visiting the Transit on Smog Days Webpage that provided free transit service on smog alert days, it was a great success.
