If you require a collection, please call 311 to arrange a collection date. This service is provided free of charge to all Windsor residents.

Looking to dispose of that old energy-guzzling refrigerator, freezer, window air conditioner or dehumidifier?  Call 311 today to schedule an appointment, and it will get picked up for free.* Your appliance can be hauled out of your house or apartment for you.  *Some conditions may apply.  This program is offered by Enwin, through the Every Kilowatt Counts fridge roundup.   

Residents can also bring their white goods/appliances/scrap metal to the Public Drop Off Depot.  At the Public Drop off, a fee of $15.00 is charged for items with a compressor.  All other metal items can be dropped off free of charge.  Learn more about Tipping Fees at the Public Drop Off Depot.   

What is collected?

  • Appliances:
    • Stoves, fridges, freezers, washers, air conditioners, dryers, dehumidifiers, dishwashers, trash compactors, sofa bed frames and microwaves, etc.
  • Household metal items:
    • Hot water tanks, swing sets, metal sinks and bathtubs, barbeques (no propane tanks), metal sheds, lawnmowers, bicycles, garage doors, etc.

Basic Collection Requirements:

  • Please dismantle larger items.
  • Fridge, freezer and dishwasher doors must be removed or securely tied/taped shut.
  • The following are not considered white goods: furniture, electronics, porcelain sinks or toilets, mattresses, televisions, textiles or miscellaneous garbage.
  • You can also drop off appliances and metal goods at the Public Drop Off Depot (E.C. Row and Central.  Metal items containing freon are assessed a $15.00 fee at the Pubic Drop Off Depot.
