It was built by Edward Chandler Walker, second son of Hiram Walker, and named in honour of the builder's older brother, Willis Walker. Designed by noted Detroit architect Albert Kahn to reflect 16th Century Tudor-Jacobean architecture, it was built with the ingenuity of 20th Century amenities.
